Eisbach 2026

From the series: Munich Moments

These photographs are about the standing wave on the Eisbach and the crowd that gathers around it. Half sport, half stage: surfers wait their turn on the bank, one of them in the water at a time, while dozens of spectators watch from the bridge and along the river, phones raised. I photograph from within the crowd, over shoulders and between people, making the spectators as much a part of the scene as the surfers themselves.
