Unter den Wohnhäusern liegen recht düstere Parkgaragen, von denen farbige Wendeltreppen nach oben in die autofreien Wohnbereiche führen. Ich war schon seit einigen Jahren nicht mehr dort, hatte dieses Motiv aber lange im Kopf. Seit dem Tod von Michael Jackson im Jahr 2009 hat sich ihr Sockel in ein inoffizielles Memorial verwandelt. Noch heute legen Fans Fotos, Blumen, Kerzen und persönliche Erinnerungsstücke nieder. Mich fasziniert diese spontane Transformation eines historischen Denkmals in eine Art Pop-Up-Gedenkstätte. Vor allem aber berührt mich die Liebe, die Menschen einem Fremden schenken können. Vor Erleichterung stützte er sich beim Verlassen der Residenz an der Löwenschnauze ab. Seither gilt die Berührung als Glücksbringer. Ob’s heute noch wirkt?
